Trailhead

Oh, dear.
I have an idea.
Another idea. A big one.
When I get big ideas, they turn into big dreams.
And when I have big dreams, I always make them come true.

I want to be a long rider. I want to know what it is to ride day upon day, mile upon mile, until I am my horse and he is me, until the pace of Earth absorbs us, until we learn to see each place and person plainly. Until we meet ourselves.

1,170 miles ought to do it.

(I'm sorry, Honey. Want to come?)

  6. As a kid, I wanted to ride the entire Appalachian Trail.

I'll be following your story, as I would still like to do a long ride some day.

  9. i've always wanted to be a long rider too: ) endurance riding in oregon and washington satisfied me for a long time, but the dream is still there. sadly, i live in europe now, and they just don't have the wilderness we have in america. *sigh wistfully*

happily though, my retired endurance horse made the trip to europe with me, and at least we're together again to putter around on these trails.

my oldest dream is coming true - we're moving to the country next month, and in memory of our distance days, i am gonna ride him the 30 KM or so to our new home. lots of pavement, i'm sure, but he's barefoot and that's no problem.

i can't really read your blog - it makes me homesick and by homesick i mean endurance-sick. endurance is a whole 'nother sport in europe, one i don't want to play.
